“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” (Ephesians 6: 14-15 NIV)
We know that life isn’t always smooth sailing. And trying to navigate it without the right foundation? That’s tough. That’s why Paul, in Ephesians 6:15, says, “and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” This verse is part of a powerful passage where Paul speaks about the full armor of God, a divine provision for standing firm in a spiritual war against cosmic forces of darkness.
The Gospel of peace is not about comfort in daily life; it’s about readiness in battle. Just as a soldier needs proper footwear to stand firm and move without slipping, the Gospel grounds us in truth and prepares us to face spiritual attacks with confidence.
This peace isn’t passive,it’s the assurance that, through Christ, we are reconciled to God and can stand secure in the face of evil. Without this firm footing, we’re vulnerable to the schemes of the enemy.
The gospel of peace is embodied in Christ, who is our peace (Ephesians 2:14-18). This peace has both vertical and horizontal dimensions: peace with God the Father, and peace between human beings-Jews and Gentiles-who were once at odds.
When I first looked at this verse, I felt drawn to focus more deeply on that horizontal relationship: how the gospel tears down walls of division and brings unity among people. “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)
What was once broken, our relationship with God,has been fully restored through Jesus. through Him, God has not only forgiven our sins, but He has already established His Kingdom in us, which grants us His peace, now!
The separation, guilt, and distance that once defined our connection to Him are no longer part of our story. God’s presence is with us always, and that is the true essence of the gospel of peace. This peace is deep, unshakable, and rooted in the truth of who God is. It assures us that we are fully embraced by Him and that our relationship with Him is restored forever. No matter what comes our way, we can rest in the confidence that God has us in His hands.
And when the enemy tries to stir up fear or anxiety, the gospel of peace steadies our hearts. Just as Roman soldiers relied on their shoes to stand firm in battle, we can rely on God’s peace to keep us steady through every storm. “and, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.” (Colossians 1:20)
And when we truly understand the Gospel of Peace, we come to know that all of these are gifts from God to His children. These are not just promises which await us in eternity, but they are realities we can and should live in now, by faith.
“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13 NIV
Before you can share peace with the world, you’ve got to experience it for yourself. And real peace? It’s not about having a perfect, problem-free life. True peace is found in Jesus. It’s the kind of peace that anchors your heart, knowing you’re fully forgiven, deeply loved, and completely accepted by God. No storm, no chaos, no situation can shake the peace He gives.
Jesus Himself promised this gift. In John 14:27, He said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
And here’s the best part, He’s not taking it back. This peace is yours to keep. It doesn’t fade., It’s steady, unchanging, and isn’t based on how you feel or what’s happening around you. The gospel reminds you of who you are, and whose you are. No matter what comes your way, you’re held securely in His hands.
There might be moments when your heart feels heavy, when the world seems to be spinning out of control, and everything feels fragile. But it’s in those very moments that His peace steps in, a peace that goes beyond human understanding, a peace that calms the chaos within. “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4: 7 NIV)
It guards your heart, steadies your mind, and walks with you through every high and low. So, no matter where you are or what you face, know this: Jesus offers you a peace that lasts, a peace that anchors your soul when everything else feels unsteady. And once you’ve embraced it, you’re ready to carry that same peace into the lives of those around you.
Taking Peace with You Everywhere
Shoes aren’t only meant for standing still, right? they’re for moving. In the same way, the peace of God isn’t meant to be kept to ourselves. We’re living in a world full of people longing for hope, and God is sending you to bring it. It’s like you’re wearing spiritual shoes, ready to step out and carry His peace wherever you go. This peace isn’t just a gift to enjoy, it’s a calling to share.
Sharing the gospel of peace doesn’t mean having all the answers or living a perfect life. It’s about showing up, loving people, and letting them see the peace and the rest you’ve found in Jesus.
So, the next time you wonder how to share God’s peace, start small. Pray silently for someone. Share how Jesus has met you in your mess. How he changed your life. You never know how much a simple act of faith and love can mean to someone who desperately needs it.
Sharing your faith is a privilege and a chance to be part of God’s work. It’s not about having all the right words or convincing someone, it’s about being available. You can’t open someone’s heart to the gospel, but God can, through the power of His Spirit. Your job is to plant the seed and trust Him with the rest.
Throughout Scripture, we see how God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things, not because they were perfect, but because they trusted Him. Take Peter and John, for example. When they stood before the religious council in Acts 4:13, the rulers were astonished at their boldness because they were “unschooled, ordinary men.” Yet, their confidence came from being with Jesus. Unlike Paul, who had formal education and rhetorical skill, Peter and John had no such background. But the power of the Holy Spirit enabled them to speak with wisdom and authority, leaving the council in awe.
Moses? He doubted his ability to lead and even asked God to send someone else. Jonah? He ran in the opposite direction rather than share God’s mercy with people he thought didn’t deserve it. Yet, God worked through their weaknesses, and He can work through yours too.
Remember this: God doesn’t call the equipped; He equips the called, and as believers, we’re all called to share what Christ has done. Jesus’ final instructions to His followers were clear: “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19, NIV). Sharing your faith isn’t just a suggestion, it’s a command. And you’re not doing it alone, the Holy Spirit will guide you, give you the words to speak, and prepare the hearts of those who hear. When you step out in obedience, God promises to be with you every step of the way.
The most powerful sermon isn’t always spoken - it’s lived. But this life we’re called to isn’t just about being kind or patient. It’s about living the Kingdom of God with intention, sacrifice, and obedience. Jesus said, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23). Living for Christ means choosing the harder path, where love looks like feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, clothing the poor, visiting the sick, and caring for the imprisoned - just like He described in Matthew 25:31-46.
People are watching, not for perfection, but for authenticity. Let your life reflect the weight and beauty of the Gospel. Live it boldly, sacrificially, and with deep compassion-so when they see you, they see Christ.
When people see a change in your life, it shouldn’t just be about how much you have grown, it should point them to how merciful and powerful God is. The truth is, we’re still imperfect. Even though we’ve been justified by faith in Christ, we continue to depend daily on His mercy and grace. It’s not about how good we look - it’s about how good Christ is. Even in our deepest struggles with sin, our honest trust in God’s mercy can lead others to repentance.
So if you feel like you’re not reflecting Christ well enough, maybe that’s not a reason to hide, but an invitation to press into His grace and let your life be a testimony, not to your strength, but to His mercy.
One of the most powerful ways to share your faith begins in private, through prayer. Ask God to open doors and give you the courage to walk through them. If you can’t think of anyone who needs to hear about Jesus, pray for God to bring people into your life who do. He is already working in the hearts of those around you. Sometimes He’s simply waiting for you to speak.
Living out the Kingdom of God is powerful, it reflects God’s love, justice, and truth in our daily lives. But actions alone are not the Gospel. The Gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ - His life, death, and resurrection - and it must be spoken and proclaimed.
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Romans 10:13-14 (NIV)
The Gospel is a historical truth, not just a way of life. People need to hear the message in order to believe and be saved.
So while our lives should reflect the Kingdom, we must also be ready and willing to speak the Gospel clearly and boldly. It’s through the proclamation of the Word that lives are truly transformed.
You can’t pour out what you don’t have. Make time to nurture your relationship with God. Read the Bible, not just to check it off a list, but to know Him better. Pray, not just when you need something, but to grow closer to His heart. Stay connected to a community of believers who will encourage you and help you stay strong.
The more you know Christ personally, the more naturally you’ll share Him with others. When His love is real to you, it will overflow into your words and actions without feeling forced.
At the end of the day, your job is to share the message, God does the heart work. You’re not responsible for someone else’s response. Some may receive the gospel joyfully; others may reject it. But every conversation plants a seed, and God is faithful to water and grows those seeds in His time.
So, don’t hold back because you feel unqualified. Don’t wait until you have all the answers. The world doesn’t need perfect Christians, it needs authentic ones willing to show up, speak truth, and love well.
When you’re rooted in the gospel of peace, you’re ready, not just to face life’s challenges but to walk boldly in God’s purpose for you. His truth anchors you and no matter where He leads, you can trust that He has already gone before you, preparing the way.
So, put on those spiritual shoes and step out with confidence! Walk in faith, not fear. Move forward with courage, knowing that the One who calls you is faithful. Speak life, share hope, and extend love, because the world needs the light that Christ has placed in you. wherever God sends you, He is already there, preparing hearts to receive the life-changing message of Jesus.
“And with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” ( Ephesians 6:15)
